What is PASS THE ANTHRAX?

PASS THE ANTHRAX was the third game I designed, but it was the first one I published. What started as a game of chance where you ding dong dash the Grim Reaper evolved into something else, as a developing game often does. The game of chance element stayed, but the setting shifted to an office building and envelopes stuffed with anthrax.

The first version had over 90 cards in it and was fun, but could really grind to a halt after a while. So I kept cutting, which kept making it faster and more aggressive. What I eventually ended up with was a 4 player game with only 6 cards. Those 6 cards remain the heart of the game to this day.

Now that I had a solid core mechanic, it was time to start adding back in. What I ended up with was something truly unexpected. A game that supports up to 12 people, but takes very little time to play. Despite that, having even a single envelope in front of you creates a serious tension that only builds as the game progresses. The reason the tagline is, “It’s like Russian Roulette without the mess!” is because that’s exactly what it is.

The repeated buildup and release of tension is undeniably suspenseful and addictive, making PASS THE ANTHRAX a worthy addition to any party game collection.
